Cultural Fusion at The Four Seasons

Updated: 4 days ago

When two souls from different cultures come together, it’s only fitting that their wedding reflects the perfect blend of tradition, elegance, and celebration. On September 1st and 2nd, Deepa and Titus' stunning Indian wedding, hosted at The Four Seasons Hotel in New Orleans, was a perfect showcase of vibrant colors, intricate customs, and unforgettable moments. From the serene rituals to the lively reception, every detail was thoughtfully curated to honor the couple’s heritage while embracing the charm of the Crescent City.

Every beautiful wedding begins with a dream, and turning that dream into reality requires a skilled team. For this Indian wedding, Alchemy Events was the mastermind behind it all. From the early stages of conceptualization to the final grand exit, they ensured that every moment was flawlessly executed, making the planning process as smooth as possible. Their attention to detail, creative vision, and experience with multicultural events were evident in every aspect of the celebration.

The weekend began with the Sangeet on Friday night. A sangeet is a pre-wedding ceremony in Indian culture that celebrates the couple and their families with music, dancing, food and drinks. The theme of this Sangeet was "The Pink City," honoring Deepa's familial heritage in the city of Jaipur. We incorporated soft pinks and oranges inspired by party's theme, and used lanterns as a few of the centerpieces to incorporate the atmosphere of The French Quarter into the design.

Our team worked through the night to prepare for the early 10:40am ceremony. It is tradition for the groom to have his own processional prior to the ceremony called a Baraat. For this wedding, Titus' Baraat was in the form of a second line, creatively adding a taste of The Crescent City into the Indian celebration. We provided a floral arch for Titus to walk through, entering the courtyard. This arch was accompanied by a five foot elephant faux boxwood topiary decorated with the same pink and orange blooms seen throughout the ceremony space and structures. The elephant topiary was one element Deepa longed to have on her big day for many years. We were thrilled to put our heads together and make her dream a reality!

Following the Baraat, Deepa walked down the aisle under a custom made Phoolon Ki Chadar. This is held over the bride's head to signify that she has been raised with great love and care and has been cherished all her life. We embellished the chadar with pops of blooms and greenery on each corner and added hanging spray rose blooms to the center fabric to create depth and interest to the structure while matching her bouquet.

Deepa's stunning procession ended with the ceremony inside the weekend's floral showstopper, the Mandap. We adorned the custom built structure by Pop Nola with an asymmetrical design made of large blooming roses, garden roses and peonies accompanied by a curtain of carnations in the back. We created a color gradient behind the couple with the carnation strings beginning with a mauve hue in the top corner, moving to a beige in the middle and ending with a cream for the longest strings. This created a more enclosed, intimate environment for ceremony stage.

The ceremony was followed by lunch and a cocktail hour. To reduce waste and maximize the use of product, we replaced the blush and orange blooms from the sangeet arrangements with plum and purple tones to match the florals at the reception.

Similarly, the groom's arch was repurposed and refreshed to provide an entryway into the reception ballroom from the cocktail hour space. Another second line paved the way for the wedding party and guests.

In the space before entering the reception ballroom, we added pops of flowers and flowing greenery to the decorative walls behind each bar. Complimenting the repurposed archway by creating a preview to the reception florals.

Finally at 7:30, the reception began. It was a bit of a challenge designing the tables for the Plimsoll Ballroom because it is such a large space to fill. We used a combination of floral bridges, candelabra wreaths, tall arrangements on ornate glass vases and low, lush compotes. These elements were paired with the elegant candle design of Firefly Ambiance to bring Deepa's vision to life.

And as mentioned before, the elephant topiary made his final appearance with the mini cake display, refreshed with the plum hues of the party.

What an unforgettable experience! We could not have pulled this one off without our wonderful team of freelancers, friends and spouses!
