A Holiday Destination Wedding in The Big Easy

Writer's picture: Annmarie MeyersAnnmarie Meyers

Originally from Texas, Nicole and Ben celebrated their "I Do's" in the Big Easy during the Christmas season last year on December 15, 2023. Their ceremony was held at the breathtaking St. Louis Cathedral in Jackson Square and their reception followed at The Elms Mansion on St. Charles Avenue. The interior of both venues were already decorated for Christmas, so we focused our candle heavy design under the reception tent and in the outside courtyard using a predominately white color palette with a touch of greenery.

The personals for this wedding were classic and beautiful. Nicole's large bridal bouquet was traditionally round, packed full with stunning white peonies, garden roses, and white ranunculus.

The bridesmaids bouquets were smaller versions of Nicole's bouquet, without the peonies.

For this reception, there were four different table designs. On the reserved tables, we adorned gold candelabras with florals at the base and added a mixture of tabletop candles, floating candles in stemmed glass and simple white votives.

The second taller design underneath the tent, purposely placed along the outside edges of the table layout, was a large, lush arrangement of white blooms and greenery on a decorative glass vase, also accented with floating and tabletop candles and votives.

One of the low designs was a stemmed glass compote of white blooms and greenery surrounded by floating candles and votives. We added texture and movement to the rose heavy design by using stock, delphinium, and variegated mini pittosporum.

The fourth design was a simple a candle cluster in the middle of the table. It included various sizes of tabletop cylinders, floating candles in stemmed glass and votives.

The gazebo in the courtyard was the site for the evening's champagne tower. This was our statement installation of the party as we added blooms and greenery in an asymmetrical design to frame the pyramid of champagne glasses. Here, we showcased the gorgeous white peonies and garden roses previously shown in the bridal bouquet.
